Thanksgiving with the Seelys

This year Andy was on call on Thanksgiving day so we celebrated a couple times.  We had our first dinner with some of our neighbors on Wednesday night.  It was a lot of fun to visit over such great food!  Shellie and her girls came down on Thanksgiving day and we started the celebration all over again.

We went to the Natural Life Science Museum in Raleigh on Friday.  There weren't very many people there at all.  Shellie and Kaylee in the jaws of a prehistoric shark!

There is also a Genghis Khan display at the Museum for the next couple months.  If we hadn't had so many little people with us we would have checked in out in more detail.

Daniel loves to watch the Acro attack show in the Dino exhibit.  It only last about 2 minutes but we have too see it every time we go.   Kaylee loved the big dino.

There are several exhibits you can listen to info. about.    Eliza loved the headphones.

 We were also able to go into the butterfly exhibit.    They were very active while we were there.  A couple even landed on Eliza.

On the way out we stopped at the gift shop the get some souvenirs.

The kids all played really well together.  Kaylee's favorite toy was the ball popper!

One of our neighbors gave the boys this Lego table and some more Lego's.  They have had so much fun building on this table.  They were going to build a monster tower with all the pieces...but there were too many pieces and not enough patience!  :)

The base turned out great under Daniel's supervision.

We enjoyed our time with our cousins and hope they come again!

A Fall Hike

A couple weeks ago we had the perfect fall weather so we went for a hike to the Eno River.  We went to check to see if the dam we built in September was still there.  We weren't too surprised to see that it was still there.  The water was quite a bit higher due to recent rain.

The boys loved picking up rocks and stick and throwing them in the water.

The boys had a picnic on the deck one afternoon and a while after they came in I looked out and saw this little squirrel eating the edges of someones sandwich.  He loved the peanut butter and chocolate still on the bread.  I love my boys!

A November Birthday

Our sweet little Eliza had another birthday.  I can't believe she is 2 already!

I couldn't get her to take the utensils out of her mouth.  When I took them away...

there was much sadness!

Later than night we had ice cream cake with some of our neighbors.

After cake we had to read stories.  Eliza cornered Marek and made him read with her.

Eliana made this card for Eliza and brought her dad and brother to help us celebrate.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PRINCESS!

Durham Fire Station 3

Our playgroup from church organized an outing to a local Fire Station.  They told us about the area they service and what kind of calls they usually get.  While they were talking to us they got a call and had to go.  We waited around for about 20-30 minutes and they came back to finish the tour.

This Fire Station is one of two in Durham that qualified to respond as HazMat.

One of the firemen put on his whole uniform so the kids could see what they look like, so hopefully they wouldn't be scared when they see them.

The kids were still a little nervous then he was in his full uniform.

They also got junior firemen hats.

We also got to tour the fire house.  This is one of their private rooms.

They have to work out at the station since there is no gym in their assigned area. They have cleaning checks for each day of the week, so they stay pretty busy.  They said that the majority of their calls are to EMS calls and not fires.  It was a lot of fun to see the fire truck and the station up close and to get a glimpse into the lives of the brave Firemen that help keep our community safe!  Thanks guys!
