Nov. 15-18, 2015
We were super excited when Aunt Jenny came to visit us after her conference in New Orleans. Her visit was shorter than we would have liked, but it is always good to see her no matter how long or short the visit is. :) During her visit we took her to see the Biloxi Visitor Center and Light house, to dinner at a Japanese Steak House, and to find a shark! (She also kept Nathan while we took Eliza to her upper scope on the 17th. They went up in the lighthouse.)
Pierre LeMoyne Sieur d'Ibervill
He was sent by King Louis XIV from Canada to find the mouth of the Mississippi river.
More about him.
We enjoyed the butterflies in the flowers.
Some of the local wild life.
More info on the gulf coast after Katrina and Camille.
Inside the visitor center there are several exhibits by the artist that carved the trees out on hwy 90.
Nathan is next to "the little man". It is made of wood and then burned to get the black color.
Here he is looking at a "big man". The picture in front shows the statue on fire as it is getting the black color. The wooden crane next to it is by the same artist, just a different feel. :0)
I really liked this display of the light house.
This one shows the inside of the Biloxi Lighthouse.
Nathan was super excited to climb up the lighthouse.
This are historic artifacts from this area.
Cool sail boat. It has a lot of detail.
Aunt Jenny!
Wooden artwork. This one will only set you back $149.
I love this owl. Yours for $195.
These fish range from $129-$149. They are pretty neat.
This is an update on our mandrin orange tree. The oranges finally ripened.
There were a lot of oranges. We had to use small ropes to support the branches.
They were really sweet little oranges.
Meanwhile back at Aunt Jenny's visit. We went down to the Biloxi Marina to see the boats and the military memorial.
Eliza, Jenny, Daniel and Bradley
We caught a pelican in flight. I was actually trying to get it sitting on the pole because it was so close. This worked though.
The Marine Patrol was getting ready to load one of their boats. Daniel tested his balancing skills while we watched.
Eliza wanted to try too.
Nathan, Josh and I also took Aunt Jenny to Hiller Park to look for alligators. It was a little bit cool this day and we didn't see the alligator. A few weeks before we did see one here. A nice lady and her little girl gave Nathan some bread to feed the ducks. He had a lot of fun.
Here little duck.
Then we went to find a shark!
I just love this boy!
Nathan doing his best "You can't eat me!" face.
Aunt Jenny climbing out of the jaws of this massive shark.
Nathan also found time to play with the dolphin.
Brucie just needs a hug!
What a sweet boy!
Aunt Jenny and Nathan went to the beach and the Biloxi Light house on Tuesday morning while we took Eliza to her appointment.
This is went the went up into the light house. Nathan still talks about going up in the Biloxi Lighthouse. He had a lot of fun.
For FHE we went to The Sumo, a Japanese Steak House. I told the kids about this place. They were really excited to try it.
Eliza, Aunt Jenny, Bradley, Daniel, Dad and Nathan
Mom and Josh joined for this picture just before the chef came over to perform making dinner for us.
Getting dinner off on a hot start.
The kids loved the flames.
I got the chicken and rice dinner. The kids didn't want to try the chicken and rice so they got chicken nuggets. Then they decided our chicken and rice was better. Eliza ate half of my rice and chicken.
Before we left we stopped for a picture with the samari knight!
Then Nathan and the Sumo.
Daniel getting ready for a show down.
Tuesday morning, Nov. 17, Eliza had an upper scope down. Everything was normal and we are back at square one.
She got a couple of new My Little Ponies to help her be brave.
We had fun with Aunt Jenny and hope she comes to visit again.
