Daniel had a field trip to the Life and Science Museum in Durham, NC. I was able to go with them as a chaperon. It was fun to explore the museum with Daniel and a few of his friends.
As we exited the museum we had to pass the playground. The kids had to stop for a few minutes to play before we moved on the the outside exhibits.
They have cool musical instruments for the kids to test out.

A jersey cow. Some of the other parents weren't sure how to tell if it was a girl cow or a boy cow. They thought maybe it was a boy cow because it had horns. :0)

Once inside we enjoyed exhibits about different kinds of insects.
this one is an Orchid Mantid. It is the white part on the flowers. It was pretty cool.
Inside we saw a lot of butterflies. Some eat nectar from flowers and some drink from fruit.

After visiting the butterfly house we met to ride the train.

We drove past mirrors so we could see our reflections.
After the train ride decided to check out the dinosaur trail.
This first dinosaur is the only one the kids are allowed to play on, so we had to stop for a few minutes to climb.
It was tougher than it looked to get to the top!

Next we stopped at the dig site so the kids to see what it was like to be an archaeologist.
Then we headed to the wetland area to see the lemurs.
They had two kinds of lemurs.

Unfortunately it was a little bit hot and the Ring-Tailed Lemurs wanted to stay in the shade.

We were late heading back to meet for lunch because it took so long to get out to the lemurs. As we hurried back through the museum to head across the street to meet the others the kids stopped at the door. They asked if we could please go back and help William. He was in their class at the beginning of the year but got moved to another class when they created a new one. I wanted to hurry, but they said he was standing alone crying. We back tracked a little and there he was. He had lost his group and couldn't see anyone he knew. Some other patrons were concerned and asked the front desk about him. I told them he was with our school and I would take him to find his group. He quite crying when we said we would take him with us. We had to cross the street and a parking lot to meet up with the rest of the group. His teacher and his chaperon met us and were both very relieved that we found him. I decided that it wasn't such a bad thing we were late.
It was a great day and I am glad I was able to spend it with Daniel!
