Bath Time and Super Heros

Since Nathan's cord hasn't fallen off yet we still have to give him sponge baths.  He is starting to like them better, either that or it has been so hot that he doesn't get cold even when he is bathing!  He does like to snuggle in the towel when he is done.  We tried to get some pictures of his hair just after the bath since that is when it is the easiest to style it.

All fresh and clean!

It has gotten a little thinner on the top in the last couple of weeks, but it is still more than his older brothers had.  :0)

When his hair is wet there are a couple of spots with a little bit of curl.  Hopefully it will stay, but probably not.

It takes a lot of work to maintain a physique like this, but someone has to do it.

The kids are back on a super hero kick.  Even Eliza has been "flying" around with a cape saving babies and fighting bad guys.

Nathan in his church outfit.  Eliza is so good to help take care of him.  If he makes a sound she is right by his side to see what he needs.

The vest and the hair make him look so big!  It is hard to believe he is only 4 Weeks old!

Another big sister and baby Nathan bonding moment.

Pool Side

We have been in a heat wave for the last couple of weeks.  It seems like we have had more heat advisories than not.   Our old neighbors invited us to join them at their pool one morning to let the kids play.  We have gone swimming in their pool before and the kids LOVED it!  They were very excited to be invited to go again.

Nathan resting in the shade.  We met at 10:30am to swim, but it was already hot enough to make us want to stay in the shade.

Daniel playing with a swim noodle.  The boys are pretty sure we should buy some noodles so that we have to go swimming more often.

Thanks Kim, Eliana and Owen for inviting us to cool off with you in your pool!

Bad Mitten

One day on his lunch brake Andy and Dr. P went to a second hand store over by the VA, and Andy found some fun stuff.  He got a bad mitten/horse shoes game.  When he got home he and the boys put it up in the side yard.  Bradley and Daniel caught on pretty quickly.  I was impressed with their hand eye coordination!

I am not sure how the horse shoes ended up in the tree, but I am sure there is a logical explanation for it.
They were able to get them all down with out injuring anyone. :0)

Eliza helped supervise the game to make sure everyone played fair.  Then we found a bunny in the neighbors yard.  Eliza chased it away for them.  I wish I would have gotten it on a video.  She is so cute chasing bunnies!

Bradley and Nathan

Nathan continues to get bigger and bigger every day.  The kids are all really good to help me with anything I ask them to do.  Bradley rarely gets a chance to hold Nathan so we had to document that it did happen.
(Poor kid, how would you like to have to compete with Daniel and Eliza just to hold your baby brother!?)

Happy Boy

NOTICE: This video is probably going to be of most interest to the Grandmas since nothing really happens!  Nathan was in a good mood this morning so we did our best to capture him smiling.  Mostly he smiles and makes some faces.  You can hear Mom and Eliza talking to him, and if you wait for it....wait for it...around 1 min. and 27 sec. wait for it...he fills his pants!  :0)  Now you know why he was so happy.

Another week older!

It is hard to believe that Nathan is already three weeks old.  When you think about it three weeks isn't that long, but we can't imagine what live would be like without him.  It seems like he has always been part of our family.  Nathan is such a sweet tempered baby.  He only gets upset when he has a big deposit he needs to make, or when he thinks he is starving.  He is so good in fact that when he cries even just a little Eliza falls apart.  She can't stand to hear him cry.  She plugs her ears and says, "Mom Nathan crying.  He hungry.  Feed him!"  Nathan loves to snuggle and is a great sleeper.

Daniel snuggling with Nathan on the cough.
Daniel really is my best helper when it comes to Nathan.

All fresh n' clean!
Nathan doing some kicking before bedtime.

Daniel is willing to hold Nathan anytime I need him.
Such sweet boys!

Nathan is a very happy baby.  I love it when he wakes up and just smiles at me.
(Tido, does Nathan fill out his outfit as well as Luke?  He is trying hard to catch his closest cousin.)

He's happy to see you!

The boys have had to earn money this summer by reading or practicing their writing.  I picked up several things that they could earn form me, but they didn't really get into it until I let them pick something they wanted from the store.  They both picked out an Iron Man toy to earn.

Daniel had to practice reciting and writing his numbers and letters to earn his Iron Man.  He earns a quarter a day.  So far this summer he has earned over $5.
Here he is with his Iron Man and four wheeler.

Bradley earns a penny a page for reading.  He had to earn $8 for his Iron Man transformer.  He is doing pretty good with his reading, but we still have a ways to go to get him to read on his own.

Nathan after another sponge bath.  It wears him out!
You can't see it as well in this picture, but he does have his hair combed.  :0)

On the 14th we had a get together with all the oral surgery residents.  The new chiefs hosted the party so we could get to know the new interns.  Nathan and Ryan, one of the chiefs.  The party was at Ryan's house.

Edward, Eliza, Dad, Bradley and Daniel
It really wasn't super hot out that evening, just humid!

Eliza holding "my baby Nathan."
She just loves her baby Nathan and comes to check on him frequently.

Daniel, my best Nathan holder!
We have all had a lot of fun with our new  baby brother.  It is just hard to believe that he is getting big so quickly!  I guess that is what happens when you try to keep up with the Wilkins!
(We must admit that Luke probably does have the most hair out of the cousins born this year.)

Second Week

We were lucky enough to get a visit from our Aunt Jenny Marie.  She came from D.C. to meet Nathan and see Aunt Darcy.  Here are more pictures of Nathan's second week.

One of our neighbors gave Nathan this little outfit.  I love it!

Nathan and Aunt Jenny

This is Nathan and Aunt Darcy's favorite spot to snuggle.  Their favorite blanket to snuggle with is the one Aunt Janna made for Nathan.  It is super soft!!  Thanks Aunt Janna!

We took Aunt Jenny and Aunt Darcy to see the Duke Cathedral.  Unfortunitely there was a wedding there, so we weren't able to go inside.  Maybe next time.

Dad, Eliza, Daniel, Aunt Jenny, Bradley and Aunt Darc

It was really hot, so we didn't stay too long before heading back to the van.

On the way back Daniel found a bench with writing on it.  He was telling us the names of the letters and numbers.  Eliza decided she needed a closer look as well.

We found some mist vents and stopped to cool off a little.
They were lots of fun.

Then we headed inside one of the buildings to feed our starving Nathan boy and to get an ice cream to cool off.

We got some awesome BBQ on the way home.  Then we got out the slip n' slide and filled some water balloons.

Eliza enjoyed having the power of running the hose.  She exercised that power a lot!

I think they sprayed each other with the hose more that sliding down the slip n' slide, but they did have a lot of fun.

Sunday after church Eliza layed down for a nap and Dad let her snuggle with Nathan for a minute.  She was so careful not to move and squish him.

Eliza, Aunt Jenny and baby Nathan

Eliza with her new sunglasses.  Aunt Jenny spoils us when she comes to visit.
Thanks Aunt Jenny!  (For the record, I did fix Eliza's hair that day...just later that day.)

Dad snuggling his boy.

I can't say enough good things about Jenny and Darcy.  I don't know where I would be today without these two.  I am so grateful for both of you!

Mom and Nathan

Nathan snuggling with Margaret during our annual cul-de-sac 4th of July firework show.
I think the funnest think is to watch the kids and see their excitement about the fireworks.

Dad and Marek supervised the lighting of most of the fireworks.

We enjoyed visiting with our neighbors and watching the fireworks.  It was a good 4th of July.  HAPPY 4th OF JULY!
