To Grandma's House We Go...

We got to visit with family in Utah for about 10 days. It was a lot of fun to visit and play with our cousins. During the trip I got my hair permed. I don't actually have any pictures of me, but I have some of other people getting perms. My camera is starting to do weird things...I think it might be on it's last leg. Anyway, here are a few pictures from our trip.

This first picture should be down by the rest from the Shuler Reunion, but for some reason blogger won't let me move it. Grandma Marvin and Uncle Richard.

Audrey getting her hair permed and toes painted.

Daniel & Abby are only 2 months a part. It was so much fun to watch them together.

Fish Hatchery:

We had the opportunity to go to a fish hatchery and see all the stages of a fishes life.

Abby, Andrea, Taylor, Caden, Andrew, Bradley, Beth & Daniel.

Here we are looking at the fish eggs. There were a couple little fish that had already hatched. There were lots of little drawers filled with fish eggs.

These big tanks had fish that had been hatched for a few months. Then we moved down to the big barn where the older fish are kept. They said it takes them about 18 months to raise the fish before they release them into the lakes and rivers.

They mostly have trout that they raise.

The dividers can be closed to section off the fish, but these ones were open so the fish could swim for quite a ways.

My nephew Andrew helped my out by taking some pictures of our fish trip. Here is Grandma!

Angela

This is one of the trucks they use to transport the fish to the lakes and rivers.

Tory S. and Aunt Beth.

Clarinda is one of our good friends and the younger sister of our favorite Uncle Tory S.

Uncle Tido (Aunt Katie)

After they showed us the fish our guide gave all the kids a fish sticker. Daniel really liked his.

Bradley was excited to get a cool sticker and wanted a picture. Daniel decided last second that he also wanted in on the picture!

Maple Canyon: After the fish hatchery we went to Maple Canyon for a picnic. We love to come here because there are so many rocks to climb on. There is a cliff over looking on of the picnic areas. We like to eat there and then the older people climb up the cliff and throw balls off. The goal is to try to get them into the camp ground without hitting any cars.

Here the kids are exploring a small crevice. We were waiting for a couple of our Aunts to finish climbing up the cliff to throw the balls.

Looking up at the cliff. When the picture is larger you can see a couple of people on the top. The trail goes up the back side. It is very steep, but pretty safe.

All the cousins looking up and waiting for the balls to be thrown. None of them made it into camp. They throw 5 and we only got 1 back. Next time we need someone who doesn't throw like a girl. (Just kidding Aunt Beth :)

This is Kaylee practicing her walking with Grandma.

Tido stayed up all night the night before playing soft ball, so she was very tired. Grandpa was trying to clean off Abby's feet.

Daniel

Inside Maple Canyon is a smaller canyon called Box Canyon. The walls are very steep and the canyon is narrow with lots of twists and turns. You only have to walk into it about 50-60 yard before you can't see the opening anymore which is how it got the name Box Canyon. We love to go hiking in here because it is always cool! There are some big boulders that have fallen in the canyon making it more fun to hike since you have to climb under and around them.

There is also a water fall at the end of the canyon. Due to the fact that there are more boulders that have fallen down, and that my center of balance has been thrown off being pregnant, I decided to stay behind with my parents and the younger of the grand kids. My sisters where good enough to take Bradley and my camera up to the waterfall. It started raining while they were up there. I thought it was really neat to hear the thunder as it rolled down the canyon. The younger kids didn't like it as much as I did. Bradley doesn't like loud noises so he thought it was pretty scary.

Here you can see some of the crazy things my camera is doing. Tory, Andrew, Taylor and Bradley are waiting at the bottom of the water fall, which is really more of a trickle, for the girls that went up.

This is looking up the 60 foot waterfall while it was raining. The pink blur at the top is Katie. My parents and I had to pack the younger kids about half way out of the canyon when it started raining. We made it down to my sisters van and sat inside to wait for the others to get down. Her van got hit by some rocks while we were up the canyon. We think they must have fallen during all the thunder and lightning. She has to replace her windshield and get a spot about the passenger door fixed. Her car was the only vehicle damaged. When Clarinda was about halve way down the waterfall there was a flash of lightning close by and the thunder made some rocks fall on her. Luckily they only hit her arm and not her head. She got a couple of good cuts on her arm, but nothing that would require stitches. It was one of our most memorable trips!

Visiting Great Grandma: Both of my grandparents live in the Payson, Utah area. We were able to see both of them the Sunday we were there.

Most of the Aunts and Uncles came to Grandma's house on Sunday afternoon to visit. Uncle Keith brought his dog with him and Daniel loved it. There were a couple other dogs there as well that Daniel liked sharing his gold fish with.

Bradley and Caden were making sure Zack got a good rest in before they talked him into tossing the football around with them.

FHE at Yuba: My parents have had the same home teacher for years. They have a tradition of going water skiing for FHE every summer. We used to take a BBQ down, but no one wanted to come in to eat. Now they do two different FHE's so that they can water ski one week and eat another week.

Getting ready to take the next group out to ski!

The little kids mostly waded in the shallow water. They did get to take a ride at the very end before we had to go.

The water is pretty muddy and there was a good breeze they whole time, but Bradley and Daniel still loved playing in the water.

Abby kept running away from her mom to get back into the water. It was funny because the kids would get so cold, then they would run up and wrap up in towels to get warm. Then down to the water they would go!

Daniel was one that just kept getting back into the water. It was a good thing we had Uncle Tory there to help us out.

Aunt Beth, Uncle Tory and Daniel trying to get dried off.

Cameron would grab the little boys and lock them in his arms until they gave him the pass word. Bradley thought Cameron was warm and wouldn't give him the password. He just wanted to have some wind protection. (Just a side note: I use to babysit Cameron and his older brother Tyler when they were just a little bit older than Bradley is. I can't believe Cameron is a senior in high school this next year. He is a great young man!)

Shuler Reunion: We use to go to the Shuler reunion every year when I was growing up. The Shulers are related to my Grandma Marvin. They are my second cousins, but that is the only side I know my second cousins on really well. We took Grandma Marvin up Payson canyon to find the Shulers and visit one afternoon.

Bradley was excited to be up the canyon!

I can't remember what this game was called, but they had a lot of fun playing.

Bradley helped me take some pictures up the canyon too.

Aunt Janna showing us a new hair style. It turned out really cute!
The boys found this little patch of dirt and had a lot of fun with it.
Andrew with his cute little dirty face.

Bradley after one of his cousins throw a shuffle full of dirt in his face.
Water Slide at Grandma's: When we were little we use to put out a tarp and slide down the front lawn all the time. It has been one of our favorite summer activities and still is!
The little kids like to be pushed down on a tube because they can go faster!

Bradley loved riding the shark down.

The kids also enjoyed the wading pool.

Janna and Laura are extremely talented! Janna is making a twirling skirt and Laura is finishing a little smocked dress for Abby.
I couldn't get Bradley to slow down for a second even though it was really hot out side. He ran and ran all day and finally crashed right before dinner!
We had a lot of fun and have almost recovered from our trip. We loved seeing all of you!

July 4th Parade

Happy 4th of July!
We went to a parade in down town Fairfield. It was bigger than we thought it would be, and there were some really cool cars! There was a pretty good breeze that kept things cool.

Daniel was freezing too, but not enough to share the blanket.
The Grand Old Flag.
I had no idea that Fairfield was big enough to have a S.W.A.T. unit.

The boys loved all the fire trucks. Bradley thought they were a little bit loud, but very cool.

There were lots of cool old cars.

The Sheriff's department was pretty cool.

We thought Aunt Beth would like this horse.

This was the only band that marched in the parade!

They had a mustang club. They had the oldest ones go first. It was pretty cool.

It is hard to see, but it says, "Kilroy was here" on the side.
This pony was dancing while it was pulling the cart. It was pretty cool.

We are always excited to see the Mr. Jelly Belly!

Cool old tow truck.

This is part of the PT Cruiser club. I know, we couldn't believe they had a club either!

This was a remote control. It was out in front of a big school bus. We think Grandma should get one to drive in front of her school bus!

More cool old cars.

It finally warmed up enough that we didn't need the blankets any more. These were the only pieces of candy that the boys got from the parade. They didn't throw any candy. There was a grocery store that was handing out one sucker per kid. It was kind of nice not to have a bag full of cheap candy that would just end up being thrown out anyway.

This was part of the 4x4 club. This little boy had a water tank on the side of his jeep and he would pull up next to people and shoot them. It shot at least five feet. I am sure he was having the time of his life!
This is a WWII jeep.

These guys did a pretty good job with their rope tricks as they walked down the road.

The Mariachi Band
Later that day we had a B-B-Q with Dianna and our cousins. Thanks for the delicious ribs Scott; you are hired!! We also met a new family, the Jensen's, who just moved into our ward. They have three little boys. They are also an Air Force family. Then we went to the marina to in down town Suisun to watch the fire work show. It was pretty good! The wind was blowing pretty well so they didn't go up as far as most, but we had really good seats so we didn't mind. One of the sparks from a big fire work land on the ground about 30-40 feet in front of us. IT was pretty cool! Needless to say we are all pretty tired after our long day, but we did have fun and hope you all had a great 4th as well.

I'm not tired!

Our local library has couple activities a week for the kids to go to. This week they had a magic show. Next week they are having a guy come do tricks, tell jokes, etc... Last week was an amazing puppet show. The local movie theatre is also doing free movies a couple times a week for kids to come see. We went to see Curious George, but they changed it to Mr. Bean's Holiday. We felt bad that it wasn't really Curious George, but we did have fun with Aiden, Jade and Nick. After the show we had lunch and Daniel and I took a nap. Bradley didn't! Then we went to the magic show. Then at dinner that night....

Daniel got messy as usual and....
Bradley fell asleep! It was funny to watch him nodding off to sleep while he was eating. I thought it was so funny I had to get it on video. I was trying not to laugh at him, so the video shakes a little bit in a place or two. I hope you enjoy it!
