Swimming at the Hotel

Andy found a good deal on a suite at a Comfort Inn. This is the way to go! The kids have their own room with a Queen and we have our own room with a King. The only way out of the kid's room was through ours, so it didn't bother me to close their door all the way at bed time.

The reason we went clear up to Fortuna, CA was because they had indoor pools at their hotels. The boys looked forward to swimming the whole trip. We got there on Friday and checked in, then the boys swam for about an hour and a half. This is the next morning before we checked out. Waiting to get the door unlocked.

The whole family

More Eliza relaxing in the pool. This was her first time swimming!

Daniel jumping in to Dad

Bradley jumping in. I love the difference. Daniel sort of leans in and Bradley really jumps!

Dad jumping in for a big splash

Daniel swimming alone!

I love watching the kids play with their Dad.

Daniel about to be eaten by the scary shark Dad!
Doesn't he look scared!?

Cannon Ball!
Still relaxing! Eliza loved just floating around the pool.

Eliza modeling her new swim suite. I had so much fun picking it out.
If only I looked as cute in my suite!

Enjoying the hot tube. This is as far as Eliza got. It was a little warm for her piggies!

Our hotel was next to this river. I am not sure which river it is, but it was very pretty. We thought it looked like a great place to camp if you wanted to see grizzlies. (We didn't see any bears it just looked like a good place for them.)

Birthday Boy!

Daniel frequently gets up early enough to eat breakfast with his Dad. Since he saw his presents so early we let him open one. He was very excited.

These are the toys we put on his cake.

Later in the day our cousins came over to decorate cupcakes and play a little. Our cousins were so excited to show Daniel his present that they opened it for him!

He was very excited about the new Monster Truck.

Decorating cupcakes.

The cupcakes were very tasty! (At least the frosting.)

We had some great cupcake decorators.

Decorating Daniel's cake.

The finished product.

Eliza sat alone for about 20 seconds without any help. She just wanted to help make Daniel's birthday a special day.

"Look at all these presents!"

Daniel was so excited!

Check out the new loot.

"Happy Birthday to Me!"

I love the pause at the end of the song before the cheer.

Muir Woods

This weekend we were trying to decide what to do with our Saturday and Andy thought it would help if he and the boys did a little cleaning. I thought it was so cute!

If a picture is worth a 1,000 words this one would say it.
The boys love to help their Dad.
We decided to go hiking in Muir Woods. Some friends told us how pretty it was there, so we went to check it out. It is amazing! They have Coastal Redwoods, Giant Sequoia, and Douglas Furs.

When trees fall across the trails they just cut the section blocking the path out and leave the rest on the sides. Some of them were pretty big.

I kept thinking we should be looking for fairs and fair rings. It seems almost magical there.
Several of the trees had holes in them that the boys loved to "hide" in. They were caused by a fire that burned the center of the tree. The bark is thick enough to protect most of the tree and keep it alive.

Hiking through to woods.

"Hiding" again.

Eliza took a little snooze during the hike.

Getting ready for lunch. There were chipmunks running all over the place. There were signs saying not to feed the chipmunks, so we tried not too. One climbed right up next to Andy and tried to take some bread off of the plate. I grabbed one side of the bread. We had a tug-a-war with the bread and I won. Andy said it was funny to watch me fight a chipmunk for a piece of bread!
The boys loved all the bear statues!

See any similarities?

There were some beautiful spring flowers in the woods.
