We were very excited to have our first snow for a VERY long time. The kids got out of school 3 hours early on the 28th. Which was so lucky since it didn't start to snow until 7 pm that night! Bradley and Daniel went out to play in the snow a little after Eliza and Nathan were already in bed.
Daniel "chillin'" in the snow.
Bradley trying to pack the snow enough to make a snow ball.
The snow is falling...
all around...
on the house tops, on the ground!
Foot prints in the snow.
These next two are "Tyler" shots of the snow.
Looking straight up on the front door step.
School was cancelled on the 29th. We didn't waste anytime getting out to enjoy the snow.
Too bad the snow was so dry and powdery. It didn't make for good snowmen or snowballs.
We don't have any sleds, so we used the boogie boards instead.
After a few minutes of packing Bradley finally made a snowball. I caught this one just before it hit my hand holding the camera. He has a pretty good aim!
Daniel rockin' the boogie board.
The spot where Andy's car was parked was a big sheet of ice! The kids kept slipping on it. They had a couple of great wipe outs before I talked them into staying off the ice.
Nathan with all his layers. He reminds me a little of the little brother on A Christmas Story. When Nathan would fall down he couldn't get back up either. :0)
Eliza enjoyed the snow quite a bit.
We walked down the road to see how slippery the big hill was. There were people sleigh riding down the hill on garbage can lids, plastic bags, etc... Even some of the adults in the neighborhood got into it.
Eliza trying to make a snowball.
Looking back up into the cul-de-sac.
Bradley making a snow angel.
Here are some of the results. Notice there really isn't much snow.
Daniel having a go.
Eliza making her wings. Daniel had to help her move her legs. It was really cute.
Eliza's angle.
After spending an hour or so outside the kids were mostly frozen. We headed inside to warm up and watch a couple of movies and nap. Later in the day we headed back out to play with our neighbors on the corner.
They have a little hill on the side of their house. The kids taking turns sliding down the hill.
Nathan waiting his turn.
Bradley helping Eliza get on the boogie board and Will getting ready to slide down.
Will coming to a stop. It was harder to slide down the hill than it looked.
Eliza enjoying sleigh riding.
Daniel trying to ski down the hill.
Bradley and Eliza rolling off the boogie board when it came to a stop.
Will wishing there were more sleds to go around.
After sledding for a while we went into play games and drink some hot chocolate. Then we headed back out for round three!
Daniel found that riding the boogie boards on your tummy works best.
Bradley had a hard time not running into the rock boarder.
Will, Bradley and Nathan
Nathan got to ride Will's tube a couple times. He loved it! Then He and Eliza got too cold and we headed inside.
Poor Eliza was so cold she couldn't get her fingers to work. I had to help her out of her wet cold clothes. Then we got her a heating pad and snuggled her in the big chair with a blanket. It took about ten minutes for her to warm up enough to stop crying. Then she fell asleep.
It was 5.5 degrees the next morning. We had to document the coldest night we have had here in North Carolina. (Just ignore the time and date...they are wrong.)
School was also cancelled on the 30th even though the snow had all melted off the roads. They also had a 3 hour delay on the 31st. We enjoyed all the extra time to relax and play, but we did miss school just a little. :0)
