For Daniel's birthday we visited the zoo and the beach.
Eliza, Abby and Bradley
Eliza, Bradley and Daniel make fabulous turtles.
We got pictures of some of our favorite animals.
Eliza and Abby checking to make sure we stay on course.
Ready for a day at the zoo.
Let the adventures begin!
A black swan
I love this wart hog. The hair and tusks make the hog!
I was taking a picture of this turtle and all the fish when the bird came swooping in.
Picture bomb!
We stopped to feed the birds. One flew right next to Nathan and it made him a little nervous.
I had to stay pretty close to him. He really did like to see them.
Eliza held her own stick.
Abby
Taylor is an old pro feeding the attack birds.
Bradley is was excited to feed the attack birds.
He giggled a lot!
Daniel was a little nervous to have the birds on him. He did feed them for a little bit, but he was happy to let me take over. Nathan was excited to see them up close.
Sarah Jane was so excited to see the birds.
"Look Mom, it is on your head!"
Happy Birthday Daniel!
This is one of my favorites of Sarah Jane and Bethany.
This bird was sitting next to the door as we left. It was like he was saying good bye to us.
Then we saw something we haven't ever seen before.
Apparently Emus like to cool off in a nice pool of water.
This little gator was on monkey island. It was only a little three footer.
The monkeys were noticeably absent.
When the gator realized he had an audience he headed out.
This Python picture we got for our Dad. :0)
We stopped to see the Prairie Dogs that were new to the zoo.
This guy has a fun job!
Daniel, Taylor, Ammon, Aunt Beth, Abby and Nathan
Cheetah
Bradley climbing down to see the cheetah.
Birthday Boy Daniel
Nathan waiting for him at the bottom.
They are trying to get these rhinos to reproduce in captivity.
You have to have a male and two females.
We found this sign with Bradley's picture on it....at least it looks a lot like him in his younger days.
This is one of the baby giraffes.
Here is the other one.
This is the platform where we fed the giraffes.
Bradley feeding the giraffe a cracker.
Sarah Jane just after the giraffe got her cracker.
I got those two pictures and turned to find the others, but they were already done feeding the giraffes so I didn't get a picture of the others. They all thought it was really cool the feed them.
Since it was Daniel's birthday Aunt Janna let us use her tickets for the kayak ride.
We went with Abby and Aunt Bethany.
All ready to shove off.
Aunt Bethany and Abby
Water Lilies
These are some of the animals we saw.
Whatever these "deer" are called they are extinct in the wild. They only exist in captivity.
We saw them releasing the new Lemurs.
This giraffes name is Rafiki. He is the daddy. He watched all of us go under the "rhino" bridge and then crossed to meet us on the other side.
Hello, Rafiki
He walked along the bank with us.
Giraffes are such beautiful animals.
As we went under another bridge we saw the little gator from monkey island.
Birthday Boy and Mom
After our kayak ride we headed over to see the big gators.
The gators were on one side and the crocs were on the other.
Giant croc...
Giant gator...
The otter posed for us.
Daniel and Abby feeding a deer.
These buzzards were just hanging out at the zoo. I couldn't believe how many there were.
Abby's turn.
After the zoo we headed for Paradise Beach.
These buzzards were just hanging out at the zoo. I couldn't believe how many there were.
Apparently they like to hang out with Bald Eagles.
We also got to see a baby monkey. He was a little shy.
Daniel petting a bearded dragon.
Abby's turn.
Aunt Janna, Taylor and Bradley kept the little kids while we did the kayak ride. We met them in the kids science center. The kids loved playing in the sand.
After the zoo we headed for Paradise Beach.
