Fun in April

April 2016

We made a trip over to the temple in Baton Rouge, LA.  On the way home we stopped at Bass Pro.  It is one of our favorite places!  The kids wanted to show me the huge snapping turtle.

Nathan, Eliza and Bradley next to the little duck pond.  These cute little ducks hang out by this little pond.  They were so cute, and one had a nest in one of the boxes.

This alligator gar is just inside the door.  It is huge!

Some of the fish in their big fish tank are pretty big.  Nathan loved them!

Here is the HUGE alligator snapping turtle.

We had to stop by the guns and try our hand at shooting the targets.

I got a pretty good score!

A better look at the duck pond.  There is a nest of eggs in that little box.

This is a good looking turkey!

More Fun In April!

The pool opened during the end of April.  After going the first time we stopped at the playground to let the kids play and warm up.  The water was really cold! The kids loved it though.

Josh loved the swing.

This is Josh and Sawyer.  They hang out for the last hour of church.  Sawyer is about 5 weeks older than Josh.

We also met at the splash pad at the marina for a playgroup.  Josh loved crawling around and playing in the water!

He didn't want to wear his hat though.

Nathan kept filling the balloon with water.  It was pretty amazing how much water he got in there.

Daniel's Birthday Celebrations!

April 15, 2016

Daniel made it to 9 years old!

Strawberry cheesecake was his cake of choice.  It was delicious!
Our schedule was pretty busy so we had to celebrate Daniel's birthday over several days.

Happy Birthday Daniel!

"Oh! Yeah!"

We were all excited to try it!

We put little braids in Eliza's hair over night.  It turned out super cute.

The school had a family lunch day that happened to fall on Daniel's birthday, so we headed down to eat with them.

We ran into Cori and Josh.  It was fun to see so many friends.

Carter, our neighbor.  He reminds me of "where's Waldo."

Later that night was fathers and sons camp out.  Eliza and I hosted a girls night.

We had a good turn out and painted a lot of toes.

Look who is getting so big!

After getting back from fathers and sons we went to dinner as a family for Daniel's birthday dinner.

Happy, happy birthday Daniel!!

First Tri-Athalon

April 8-9, 2016

Andy participated in his first sprint triathlon on Saturday April 9th.
The night before there was a free crawdad boil on base.  There were over 20 teams participating in the contest, so naturally he had to try some.

Eliza, Nathan and Daniel thought they were pretty good too!

Andy was a little nervous about how well they would sit the next day during his race.

Crawdad anyone!?

The triathlon...

We made posters to encourage our dad during his race.  Here are some of the other participants from Keesler.
Chase R., Dana J., Curt H., Matt M., and Dad
The best cheering section is in front with the signs!!

Everyone is excited to race!

A couple more from Keesler!

Looking out over the crowd of participants.

Dad swimming!

I think this one is Dana.

I think Curt and Matt are in these.

Matt was the first one out...
I'm not sure how it happened, but Matt is the only one I got leaving...I missed the rest!

Curt's family joined us while we waited for them to bike 17 miles.
Josh crawled up and down the side walk chasing the soccer ball.

Amanda H finishing the biking portion.

Amanda starting her run.

Dana and Andy finishing their ride.

Andy and Dana starting their run.

After they started their run we headed up to the finish line.  We went up to the corner to watch and then Nathan had to use the bathroom.  Andy crossed the finish line while I was taking Nathan to the bathroom. :( I can't believe I missed it!!

Andy and Dana after they crossed the finish line.

Andy's splits

Later that night we went to dinner with Cathryn and Dana Jensen.  We went to a Japanese restaurant.

It was super tasty!

It was such a fun night.

April 14th
One of our neighbors was getting ready to move and needed a place to keep his birds for a day.  I told him that we would love to keep them.  Andy didn't know that I volunteered to keep the birds, so we sent him a picture.

"Hey dad how do you like our new birds!?"
He was pretty surprised.  He would have let us keep them, but he wasn't too sad that they went home with their owner. :)

Our first peas!  They were delicious and did very well.

Nathan built a castle with chalk.  He was proud of it! :)
