June Fun

June 2016

A swarm of bees moved into our tree for about 5 days.

Apparently there has been a swarm come through the last couple years and hang out in different trees close to our house.

They left behind a little evidence.

A few bees hung around for a few days.

Tiny frogs.
We had some tiny frogs in the back yard.  The kids loved catching them.

We also have a big toad that hangs out in the back yard.
There is a small difference in size here. :)

Pool days!
The kids love going to the pool!  It is really nice to have it so close to the house!

A new truck!
If you give an Andy a boat he might ask for a truck!

Batman

Why be you when you can be Batman?

Bradley and I found this turtle on an early morning walk.

Playing in the sprinkler.
Josh crawled up and down the sidewalk in the sprinkler.  He loves the water!

Here he comes!

I love his stink bug crawl!

Scout twilight camp

The boys got to participate in the twilight camp again this year.  They always have fun!

Memorial Day Boat Trip

May 30, 2016

We decided to go to Ship Island for our maiden voyage out front.
Everything is loaded and we are ready to get on our way.

Nathan and Eliza took the seats in the back near the rainbow spray!

We passed several pelicans on our way out.

Josh fell asleep after a few minutes and napped in the cabin as we made our way out to Ship Island.

First look at the fort on Ship Island.

We spotted several dolphins.  There is a deep channel that runs next to the fort.  The dolphins like this channel and mostly hand out there.  The rest of the bay is around 10-11 feet deep on average.

We had lunch went we first got there and then the boys did a little swimming before we headed in to see the fort.

Daniel was the first to be brave enough to jump right in.

A little info about the area.

The family heading into the fort.

We took a short tour to learn a little about this fort.

This is an oven they used to heat the cannon balls to help them cut through ships better.

These cannons were so big and heavy that it was cheaper to just blow them up than it was to take them back to the main land.  There are still some big chunks there.

These cannons really packed a punch!

There's our boat!

They had to collect their own water because there isn't any fresh water on the island.

The floor slopes where they collected the water.

Looking out one of the gun windows on the ground floor.

The archways and red brick are stunning!

Hurricane Katrina was very hard on this fort!

It got hot while we were exploring the island and fort, so we headed back to the boat so we could cool down.

It was a fun day and a good maiden voyage!
