Off to the Museum

Andy was home for the weekend so we decided to get out of the house and check out our favorite museum.  The Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh is a great mixture of live exhibits and stuffed animals.  The kids love it!  We haven't been for quite a while and didn't realize that they had opened a whole new section to the museum.   On the way into the museum we saw some horse and carriage rides.  If it had been warmer we might have considered going for a ride, but the wind was a little too chilly for us.

Bradley, Daniel and Eliza petting the mini pony.

Eliza loved the little pony and wanted to keep it.  She might be related to her Aunt Bethany.

Eliza really liked this cougar too.  She kept saying, "Mom look at the kitty!"

I think we have to get a picture with them Mega Shark jaws every time we go.  I love how Bradley and Eliza are pretending to be scared and Daniel is looking at them like they are crazy!

This snapping turtle was right at the front of the tank.  He acted like he was waiting for little fingers to get close so he could eat them!
Good thing there was some thick glass between us and him.

Last time we were in Raleigh they were just starting on this globe.  At the time we didn't know what it was going to be.  It turned out great!  They also added a walk way leading from the original museum to an extension they build, including the globe.

We checked out the new portion of the museum.  They have a lot of hands one exhibits that I think the boys would love.  Since it was later in the day and the kids were getting tired, we looked around quickly and headed back to catch our favorite Dino exhibit in the main building.

Eliza standing in the dinosaurs track.  She has gotten so big since the first time we went to the museum over two years ago.

On our way out we noticed the horses and carts were still out front.  Daniel and Eliza got to pet the mini more since most of the crowds were gone.  Aunt Beth needs a cart like this!

This mini had teeny tiny horse shoes that were adorable!

As you can see the other horses were slightly larger.  :0)  Eliza wasn't afraid of them at all.  Daniel was more cautious.

We had a great weekend with Dad and we were sad when he had to head back to Asheville.

One thing we have really enjoyed are our iPods.  We got two back in October so we could keep in better contact with our Dad when he is gone.  We have been able to read scriptures and say family prayers with Dad almost every night he has been gone.  I was letting Eliza have a turn talking with Daddy while the boys were getting their PJ's on.  She got herself set up at the bottom of the stairs and was telling him about her day.  It was so cute!
