Great Day of Service 2014

March 22 was our Stakes annual Great Day of Service.  Andy had training again and wasn't able to join us.  Margaret and Marek were kind enough to keep Nathan for us.  The rest of us headed to an elementary school near by to help with the service project there.

Eliza, Bradley and Daniel ready and waiting to get going.
Since I was there with three kids they assigned me to help move mulch to the flower beds.  I didn't mind at all and only felt a little bit bad for those single people stuck moving gravel!

Bradley on top of the mountain of mulch!

The Jones family use to be in our ward before the split.  They also helped with the mulch moving project.  Look at all those muscles!

These were the brave wheel barrow loaders.

Bradley and Daniel are on the far side.  They stayed right with us and shovelled for a little over an hour.  I was really impressed with how much work they did.

We were joined by more people as the time went by.  This shows about half of what was there to begin with.

This shows one of the flower beds with the new mulch.  We covered a LOT of flower beds.
I met the sister of one of Andy's co-residents.  It was fun to visit with her and get the name and number of their teen age neighbor for baby sitting.

Brodie and Eliza.
Brodie is in scouts with Bradley.

The project started at 9 am and by noon I was wishing for a wheel barrow ride home.  I was pretty worn out.  It was a great experience to get together with so many other people and get a big project like this accomplished.  Service really does bring people closer together.
