Daniel's Birthday and the Pinewood Derby

April 15, 2015

It is hard to believe that Daniel is 8 yrs. old already!  The time has really flown by.
He is growing into such a wonderful big brother.
The kids were very excited to do gifts before Dad left for work.

Eliza, Nathan and Daniel

Daniel got a new scooter.  He was super excited. :)

Later that day was the Pinewood Derby.
Daniel was officially old enough to be in scouts.  We didn't think about it soon enough for him to make his own car.  We had him use Bradley's car from last year since we knew it was the right weight.
They had a table set up with pictures for the kids to color while the races got set up.

The boys checking in their cars.

Daniel was just excited to officially be apart of scouts.

They let the leaders and family members build cars too.  They didn't have to follow the regulations, but they didn't compete with the boys either.  This was one of my favorites.

We combined our troop with the other ward, so there were lots of cars.  Most of them had been checked in.  Bradley's is the bus with the pennies and Daniel's is #7 on the front row.

Nathan and Dad watching as the races get under way.

Bradley was part of the first round.

The boys sat at the end of the track to catch their cars.  Bradley's wasn't as aerodynamic as the others, but he did have fun racing.

Daniel was in one of the first heats as well.

Daniel took second in his heat.

The kids all lined the side and ate snacks while the boys raced their cars.

They had a great turn out and everyone enjoyed the races.
The boys can't wait until next year!

*As a side note Daniel got sick on 13th.  He had a fever for a couple days and his throat started to hurt.  we took him in to get a throat culture and it turned out he had strep.  He missed school the first half of the week.  He was afraid he would still be sick for his baptism on the 18th.  Good news is he got better!  He had technically been on antibiotics for 24 hrs, so he was able to go to the pinewood derby.
