A Saturday Play Date

A couple weeks ago we had some friends over while their parents were working or out of town.  They were here from about noon until 7:30 pm ish.  We had a lot of fun things planned for the day.   Not all of our plans worked as we had hoped they would, but we had fun anyway.  The first activity was the slip n' slide.  Unfortunately it popped.

The next activity was a water fight...not all the guns worked!
So we moved on to playing in the sprinkler while attempting to have a water fight.  :)

Daniel, Bradley, Cole and Leah

Ready, Aim, Fire!

Eliza loved chasing the kids around trying to get a couple of shots in.
Since the guns weren't working as well as the could have the kids moved on to dumping a bucket of water on their heads.

Bradley

Cole

Daniel and Leah both tried, but they didn't get as much water on them as the older boys.

Daniel took his more in the face than on the head.

Bradley again.

going inside to get dried off and warm, the kids decided to play some games.
Bradley and Cole playing Yahtzee.  It was Bradley's first time playing and he did pretty well.  Cole was an old champ at Yahtzee.

Leah and Daniel opted for a more leisurely game of Candy Land.
It did rain a little in the afternoon, but that didn't stop Dad from finishing a couple projects for me.

Andy put up an new pole and hook for our new bird feeder.  The other pole was very old and looked it in comparison to our new deck.  The hook is also a little longer this time, so hopefully it will help keep the squirrels from making a big mess out of the bird seed.

We also took advantage of the wet weather to let off our bottle rockets.  I know what you are thinking..."Aren't they illegal in North Carolina?"  Yes...yes they are.  :)  Hence the reason we needed wet weather to let them off.  I should also note that we were given the bottle rockets, we did not buy them.
The boys loved it!!  We were responsible users and we did recover every rocket launched!

We finished up the day by grilling hamburgers and hot dogs and watching part of the Clone Wars we got from the library.  It was a lot of fun to have friends over to play.
