Arrow of Light Ceremony

May 28, 2014
Wednesday was the first arrow of light ceremony Bradley has attended.  He was very excited to be there.
Eliza and Bradley waiting for things to get started.

The keeper of the flame.  It was a full time job to keep the kids and scouts out of the fire.

Eliza was happy to be there.

Bradley and Nathan as the ceremony got started.

Bradley helped lead the scout theme.

Bradley getting some more belt loops from his den leader, Bro. Verderwerken.

Nathan was getting restless, so Eliza and I had to walk to the back with him.

He didn't stay still for very long.
As Eliza and I tried to keep track of him she noticed ants every where.  When we were in FL she got bitten by fire ants.  She started screaming like she was being killed when one climbed on her.  It was a little distracting for those trying to listen to the ceremony.  I got her calmed down and moved farther back.  Nathan came with us and kept running wild.  He wouldn't hold still!  Towards the end of the ceremony another ant got on Eliza and bit her.  She screamed hysterically at the top of her lungs!  She did have a good sized welt on the top of her foot.  After the ceremony ended I took her in to the church to get some ice.  She cried for about how bad her foot hurt for the next 40 minutes.  Between Eliza and Nathan I missed most of the ceremony.  It was hot and humid and I wasn't sure why I had even bothered to go until I talked to Bradley and Daniel on the way home.  They were so excited to be at scouts.  Daniel can't wait until he can officially join.  I guess the whole evening wasn't a bust.

I am a fan of cub scouts. :) Seeing Bradley in a uniform made him look more grown up than I was ready for. I hope he will be an eagle scout someday like most of his uncles and his BIG cousin Ben.

Bradley does a great job and it's cute that Daniel is so excited about joining scouts too!
I know how Eliza feels about ants--I do that same thing with bees/wasp/etc... ;)
